Proposed Development: Proposed Extractive Industry (Gravel/clay and hard rock)

A Development Assessment Panel (DAP) application has been lodged for Development Approval for a proposed Extractive Industry at Lots 3938 & 7971 Catterick Road, Catterick.

The proposal includes the following:

• Approximately 350,000m³ of gravel and clay will be removed across 10 years and divided into 6 stages.
• Approximately 3000,000m³ of hard rock will be extracted over 10 years.
• The proposed haulage along unsealed Catterick Road, before exiting onto South Western Highway.
• Proposed operating hours are 7:30am-5:30pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays 7:30am-1pm (if required), excluding public holidays.
• A maximum of 20 light vehicles and 48 heavy vehicle movements (24 laden and 24 unladen) truck haulage movements during peak day haulage periods are proposed.

 

As part of the assessment process, the application is required to be advertised for public comment having regard to the Shire’s LUP11- Extractive Industry Policy and relevant planning framework.

The application will be determined under the Planning and Development (Development Assessment Panels) Regulations 2011 by the Regional Development Assessment Panel. If you make a submission, you will be advised in writing of the date and time of the determination meeting.

Written comments on the proposal should be lodged to btnshire@bridgetown.wa.gov.au on or before close of business on Wednesday 30 September 2026. Please note that any comments received may be referred to the applicant to provide them with an opportunity to address the issues raised in the first instance (with personal information including names and contact details being removed).

This proposal is available for inspection in order to provide an opportunity for public comment as part of the Shire’s assessment process of the proposal.
