Temporary Suspension of Shire Liquid Waste Services

The Bridgetown Waste Facility’s liquid waste ponds have reached full capacity due to significant rainfall over the winter period - particularly in July, which recorded 224 mm of rain compared to the long-term average of 130.7 mm. As a result, the Shire must temporarily suspend acceptance of grease trap and septage waste.

Shire Officers are actively working to reinstate this service as soon as possible. This includes investigating the transfer of a portion of the wastewater from our ponds to an approved external treatment facility. The timeline for reopening will depend on several factors, including water quality testing outcomes and transport logistics, however it is being treated as a priority.

In the meantime, liquid waste from within the Shire can still be disposed of at other licensed facilities. Several contractors continue to provide this service, and residents are encouraged to obtain multiple quotes, as pricing may vary.

 Examples of contractors:

  • South West Septics – 0418 914 209
  • Sandgroper Contracting – 0403 487 894
  • Geographe Liquid Waste – 0429 372 913

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter.
