Thinking about clearing out some yard debris with a burn pile? Before you strike that match, please remember the most important rule: Never leave a fire unattended.
Even a small, controlled burn can turn into a dangerous situation in a matter of seconds if the wind shifts or a stray spark flies. Let’s work together to keep our neighborhood safe!
· Someone must be with the fire at all times until it is completely extinguished.
· Never burn on windy days.
· Keep a garden hose or several buckets of water within reach.
· Ensure there is a 3 metre "fuel-free" zone around your pile.
· Always check local fire regulations and "total fire ban" day status before starting.
