The Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes is calling for nominations for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.
The Awards are a chance to recognise the people and groups who give their time, energy and care to our community - often without expecting any recognition at all. Nominees don’t need to have done anything headline-grabbing. Consistent, practical contribution over time is exactly what the Awards are designed to acknowledge.
Categories
Nominations are open in four categories:
• Community Citizen of the Year
• Community Citizen of the Year (Senior) - open to residents aged 65 and over
• Community Citizen of the Year (Youth) - open to residents aged 16 to 30
• Active Citizenship (Group or Event) - for community groups, or for a specific event that has made a positive contribution to the district
Who can be nominated
Nominees should live in, or make their contribution within, the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes. You can nominate an individual or a group, and you’re welcome to nominate more than one. Self-nominations are not accepted.
Think about people who:
• volunteer their time to a local club, service or cause
• have quietly sustained an activity or organisation over many years
• have stepped up in a time of need
• work to include or support others in the community
How to nominate – Its easy!
Complete the nomination form at Community Citizen of the Year - Auspire - Australia Day Council of Western Australia. You’ll be asked to describe the nominee’s contribution and the difference it has made. A short, specific description of what they actually do carries more weight than a long one - a paragraph or two of real detail is plenty.
Nominations close 31 October 2026.
Announcement of recipients
Recipients will be announced at the Shire’s Australia Day celebrations in January 2027, and will go on to be considered as part of the state-wide Awards program.
