There’s a Census job for you
Did you know the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is hiring over 30,000 people for the Census?
From capital cities to regional towns and remote areas, people are needed all over Australia to make sure everyone is supported to participate.
By working in a Census field job, you’ll collect the data that helps inform local services for your community. That’s everything from schools to health centres, transport and infrastructure.
There are a variety of temporary jobs available in your local area. You can earn extra money and work flexibly across weekdays, weekends and evenings.
Jobs can include delivering Census letters and forms, answering questions from the public, and assisting households that haven’t yet responded. Some jobs can also involve managing a team of people on the ground.
Applications for Field Officer jobs are now open. The ABS is looking for a broad range of people to apply to reflect the diversity of Australian communities. No experience is required for these jobs.
Support your community’s future by working for the 2026 Census. To apply and see all opportunities visit census.abs.gov.au/jobs.
