Information for voters
Local government elections are held every two years, on the third Saturday in October.
Residents and ratepayers of the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes are encouraged to check their enrolment ahead of an election to ensure they are able to vote.
Enrolment in the 2025 Local Government Election has now closed.
How to vote
The 2025 local government election will be conducted by postal vote.
All registered electors will receive an election package in the mail approximately three weeks before election day.
Further information will be provided closer to the date.
Are you enrolled to vote?
You are eligible to vote in a local government election if:
- you are a resident of the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes and are enrolled to vote in state elections; or
- you are enrolled to vote in state or federal elections, own or occupy rateable property in the Shire, and have made a successful eligibility claim.

Owners and Occupiers Roll
Do you own or occupy a rateable property or business within the Shire? You are eligible to make a claim to be on the Owners and Occupiers Roll.
To be eligible to be enrolled as an owner or occupier, you must:
- Be enrolled for State elections at an address outside of the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes
- Own rateable property in the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes (even if part of this property is in another local government district)
- Prove that you have a right of continuous occupation under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument.
