Spirit Stones - A Noongar Documentary

Published on Tuesday, 22 July 2025 at 3:20:57 PM

The Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes are hosting a NAIDOC film screening featuring the local Noongar documentary ‘Spirit Stones’.

“Spirit Stones presents an historical Indigenous story about unexplained phenomena that occurred in the 1950’s across the South West of Western Australia, when stones fell for hours, days and weeks. Beautifully filmed, the South West comes alive in a film not about facts, but about feeling the spirit of the country - the Noongar way.” – JAG Productions.

Join us for a community celebration of NAIDOC Week with this year’s theme being: The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, bringing people together through culture, conversation, and connection.

This is a community gathering that begins with a light morning tea and refreshments, setting the tone for a welcoming and inclusive space. We’ll open with an Acknowledgement of Country before settling in to watch Spirit Stones, a powerful and culturally rich film. After the screening, we’ll come together for a group discussion and Q&A, offering space to reflect on the film’s themes and share perspectives. The event will then be uplifted by a live didgeridoo performance, creating a moment for deep cultural resonance. As we wrap up, we invite you to take part in a time of reflection and connection with others in the community.

This is a free event open to all. Come along to honour and celebrate the enduring culture, stories, and strength of First Nations peoples.
