Another summer season has come to an end with the aquatics complex closing on 17 April after Council determined to extend the operating hours of the complex during the Easter and School Holiday periods. This meant the complex was open 11am – 3pm for an additional 13 days. You can read about the decision to extend the season here.
During the extended season the average daily temperature was 22 degrees Celsius and we had an average of 17 customers each day and generated an average of $35.50 income each day. Council will assess the viability of extending the season after analysing the subsidy required to open the complex for the extended period in comparison with the usage of and income generated at the facility during the extended period.
This year swimmers once again had the opportunity to participate in the Bridgetown to Exmouth Swim during which the distance of 1508 kilometres was achieved by all lap swimmers collaboratively. Prizes were awarded to the senior (adult) and junior (youth) front runners.
Cameron Hodge won the senior front runner prize for an impressive 7,240 laps (181km) during the season, earning him a season pass for the 2021/2022 summer aquatics season.
Evelyn White who is 11 years of age won the junior front runner prize after clocking up 3,360 laps (84km) during the season, a fantastic effort which also earning her a season pass for the 2021/2022 summer aquatics season.
As we move into winter, we hope all our swimmers and pool users will continue to keep active with other fitness opportunities available at the Bridgetown Leisure Centre.
