Shire President, Cr Tracy Lansdell announced today that the Council has unanimously approved the appointment of Garry Adams as the new Chief Executive Officer for the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes.
Garry has 13 years of experience in local government, where he has served in various senior leadership positions, including Director roles, Acting CEO or Deputy CEO positions. His career has evolved from a foundation in Finance and Corporate Services to roles within Community and Commercial services. Before transitioning to local government, Garry built a diverse career. He managed health services in Kununurra, served as Director of the Perth Zoo, founded a small business in Albany, and held managerial roles at both Albany Hospital and Albany Port.
Garry has extensive experience in fostering cultural transformation within organisations. He believes in the importance of setting the example at the executive level and reinforcing organisational values.
Garry is highly skilled in community engagement. His approach involves seeking out the voices that are often unheard, using diverse methods to engage with all segments of the community.
Garry values the Shire’s focus on staff and community engagement, aligning with his personal values and leadership style. He is drawn to the opportunity to help the Shire with financial sustainability and community development, leveraging his experience in financial management, cultural transformation, and community engagement to make a meaningful difference.
Garry will join the Shire on 4 August. Arthur Kyron will remain as temporary CEO until then and will provide Garry will a comprehensive handover.
