Scribblers Golden Feather Hunt 2021 – Elusive Golden Feather Found

Published on Friday, 7 May 2021 at 8:00:00 AM

The Scribblers Festival celebrates creativity, literacy and the special place libraries hold in the lives of children and parents.  This year as part of the festival the Bridgetown Library participated in the Scribblers Golden Feather Hunt.

Each participating library in Western Australia was sent various coloured feather bookmarks to hide in the children’s and young adult areas of their libraries.

We received numerous White Feathers, 1 Sapphire Feather (only 1 is sent to each library) and 1 of the rare Golden Feathers (there are only 5 in the entire state).

On April 22nd both the Sapphire and the Gold feathers were found. The Sapphire Feather was found in the afternoon by Sarah Baxter (age 4) in a picture book. Sarah was very happy with her find and the mystery book prize that she won instantly.

The Golden Feather was found by Matilda Driscoll (age 6) in the early evening. Matilda picked up the book which was recently donated by local author Steve Heron and discovered the feather inside. Steve Heron is a proud supporter of the Scribblers Festival and personally come to the library to congratulate Matilda. The 5 finders of the Golden Feathers each win a major prize; a VIP Scribblers Festival Pass, an iPad, and a signed book pack.
