MainRoads WA Blackspot ProgramAlthough scenic drives are part of the Bridgetown-Greenbushes allure, sometimes these winding roads surrounded by bush can create hazardous driving conditions. To improve road user safety and reduce road trauma, the Shire applied for a Black Spot grant for Winnejup Road. The total project cost was $511,000, where two thirds was funded by the Black Spot Program ($340,667) and one third Shire contribution ($170,333).

The scope included reconstructing 2km of Winnejup Road (starting 8km from the Bridgetown-Boyup Brook Road), widening it from a 5.7m to a 7m seal, removing roadside hazards from the clear zone and improving sight distance. This work is now complete which significantly improves the safety of this section of road.
