New Safety Signage for Maranup Ford Road

Published on Wednesday, 25 November 2020 at 8:01:00 AM

We have recently installed new signage on Maranup Ford Road to improve vehicle safety. While the southern section of Maranup Ford Rd makes for a scenic drive, the steep hills and tight corners create a hazard to motorists who are unfamiliar with the area.

We requested Main Roads conduct a safety assessment of the Road, which identified that in some parts of the road maximum safety speeds as low as 50km per hour were required.  This is a lot lower than the posted speed limit of 90km per hour.

In taking into account the posted speed limit of 90km per hour we used the Main Roads assessment to determine a combination of hazard, advisory speed signs and curve alignment markers (CAM’s) were required between Kandalee Road and Five Gates Road. We endeavoured to keep the number of signs to a minimum while ensuring all hazardous areas were properly identified with the new signage.

You can access Main Roads information on road safety here.
