Council meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month except for December which is generally the third Thursday of the month, depending on when Christmas Eve and the holidays fall. The December Council meeting is always held in Greenbushes and Councillors enjoy the opportunity to receive questions from Greenbushes residents and enjoy finger food and beverages after the meeting.
A range of issues were addressed by Council at the December meeting including:
- Pausing progress on the current position of Council regarding outsourcing visitor information service delivery to the Bridgetown Community Resource Centre pending two workshops in March 2022. One will be with community groups (including the Bridgetown CRC and Bridgetown & Greenbushes Business & Tourism Association) and one will be a Councillor workshop.
- Acceptance of the 2020/2021 Annual Report (including the annual financial report) and confirming the date of the Annual General Meeting of Electors on Thursday 3 February 2022 in Council Chambers at 5.30pm.
- Setting of the ordinary meetings of Council dates for the 2022 calendar year.
- Adoption of the draft Plantation Applications Town Planning Scheme Policy TP.1 to proceed to public consultation (and future reporting back to Council after the consultation).
- Approval of $5,000 sponsorship to assist Blackwood Youth Action’s annual skate competition.
- Acceptance of $5,000 grant funding to purchase iPads and deliver a ‘digital inclusion’ initiative at the Library.
- Acceptance of a tender from BRC Building Solutions Pty Ltd for the Bridgetown Railway Station Conservation & Renewal Project and undertake negotiations with the tenderer regarding identified aspects of the project.
