Containers for Change While Out and About

Published on Tuesday, 20 June 2023 at 12:55:55 PM

Containers for Change and the Shire are currently rolling out Container Exchange Points in public spaces.

These exchange points are simply a basket or cradle attached to an existing general waste bin. When you're out and about, look to see if there is a Container Exchange Point attached to a public bin and if your empty container has a 10¢ mark then drop it off. By putting your empty 10¢ container in a Container Exchange Point, instead of general waste, you save them from landfill. Containers left at Container Exchange Points are free for anyone to collect and return to refund points.

Please visit www.containersforchange.com.au/wa/how-to-collect/container-exchange-points for more information about the exchange point program.

CHECK FOR THE 10¢ MARK

It's easy to save your 10¢ containers from landfill - just check for the 10¢ mark!

Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel, and liquid paperboard drink containers that are 150ml to 3L are accepted.

This includes:
• Most single-serve water and fizzy drink containers up to and including 3L.
• Most single-serve alcohol containers, like beer bottles and pre-mixed spirits.
• Flavoured milk containers that are 150ml to 999ml.
• Coconut water, pure fruit, or vegetable juice containers that are 150ml to 999ml.

Please remember disposable coffee cups are currently NOT recyclable or eligible for a refund.
