It is always great to see hundreds of our residents come along for the Australia Day Breakfast carefully prepared for them by their elected members!  This year we welcomed 450 people to our breakfast celebration.

  • One of the key aspects of our Australia Day Breakfast event is the presentation of Citizen of the Year awards. This year the following individuals were honoured for their extensive, longstanding contributions in our community:
  • Citizen of the Year – was awarded to Erica Duffett who was nominated for her dedication, commitment and many contributions to St John Ambulance WA and the Bridgetown-Greenbushes community over 13 years
  • Citizen of the Year – Youth (under 25 years) - was awarded to Jessica Wright for her outstanding contribution to St John Ambulance WA as a volunteer ambulance officer. At nineteen years of age Jess is the youngest volunteer at the substation.
  • Citizen of the Year – Senior (over 65 years) - was awarded to Erica Gale who was nominated for her remarkable and generous dedication to sharing the joy of music with our community with weekly visits to the Bridgetown Hospital, Geegelup Village and the homes of the unwell, as well as providing entertainment at community events.
  • Active Citizenship – Group or Event – was awarded to the Jubilee Singers for their significant contribution to the arts in Bridgetown-Greenbushes including the organization and hosting of the annual Blackwood Rhapsody music concert which was revived in 2018. The Jubilee Singers also provide robust musical entertainment at Good Friday and ANZAC services, Fridgetown Fest and various Christmas concerts.

If you missed out on joining us this year, make sure you put in your diary for 2022!
