Where $100 of Rates Goes

Your rates are used to pay a proportionate share of what we need to provide local services and facilities. Every Shire provides services to its own unique, diverse and changing community needs.

At our recent Community Sundowner we shared an infographic that showed a breakdown of how every $100 of rates is used.  This includes:

  • $27.20 supports roads bridges and footpaths
  • $12.00 supports parks, sportsgrounds and gardens
  • $10.40 supports our governance and strategic planning (State Government requirements)
  • $9.30 supports the Bridgetown Leisure Centre
  • $6.60 supports development services
  • $6.60 supports economic development and tourism
  • $5.10 supports elected members
  • $4.60 supports the Bridgetown Public Library
  • $4.60 supports bushfire and emergency management
  • $4.00 supports public halls
  • $3.00 supports community amenities
  • $2.50 supports education and welfare
  • $2.30 supports heritage, arts and culture
  • $0.90 supports public safety
  • $0.90 supports environmental protection
