Spring is slowly inching into summer so we will soon be able to enjoy our aquatics complex and private pools at home.  Being aware of swimming pool safety is vital for pool owners. According to the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety domestic swimming pools are the most common site in which drowning for children aged 0–5 years occurs with 94% percent of drowning incidents at locations in and around the home.

These tragic incidents can be significantly reduced if we are all aware of the potential hazards of water in our everyday life and use simple prevention methods and learn the lifesaving skill of resuscitation. You can learn more about the safety requirements of pools and spas here and check out how to learn or refresh your resuscitation skills here.
