Growth Strategy Project – Foreshore Park Redevelopment Update

Published on Friday, 2 July 2021 at 8:40:21 AM

You might have seen recent Face Book chatter regarding the progress of our first Growth Strategy Project the redevelopment of the Foreshore Park.  This is an exciting project which will see the upgrade of the Old Rectory Trail, the River Walk, the installation of a gazebo, seats and interpretative signage to add value to the recreational benefits of this beautiful 13 hectare precinct. Works are expected to be fully completed by 31 July in time for the Annual Duck Derby and we are currently liaising with the State Government regarding Ministerial representation at an official Growth Strategy Launch event.

The Foreshore Project will link in with other trails based project including the Bridgetown Public Art Trail. The Art Trail is a great tourism attraction to draw visitors to both the Foreshore Park and the Hampton Street retail precinct.  We will be reviewing and updating the Bridgetown Heritage Trail which will also add value to the Foreshore Park and the Art Trail.  The current Art Trail Booklet will be upgraded to include new pieces of art in Bridgetown as well as all the existing public art in Greenbushes. These projects all add value to our towns to encourage tourists to stop and stay a while longer.

During July we will be progressing tenders for the redevelopment of the Bridgetown Town Hall and Bridgetown and Railway Station redevelopment projects.  These projects are also part of our Growth Strategy

Local Governments are required (by law) to tender on projects where the total value is $250,000 or more. We always ensure our tenders include commitment by the applicants to use local services, trades and suppliers.

We will continue to keep you posted on these, and other growth strategy projects.
