Blackwood River Art Trail Event

Recently we met with the new Chair of Blackwood Creatives (BC) Chris Allen who let us in on an exciting initiative currently being developed in our creative community.

Chris told us that in conjunction with the coordinator of the recent Nannup Art Trail Event (that was held in Sept/Oct this year) BC are planning to develop an expanded Blackwood River Art Trail Event that encompasses Nannup, Bridgetown, Greenbushes and Balingup to build on the success experienced in Nannup.

The proposal is that the Blackwood River Art Trail Event will run over two weeks and include three weekends from 27 March – 11 April 2021. To capitalise on visitor numbers it will run over Easter and part of the April school holidays. The aim is to have up to 30 venues with most exhibitions based within participating town precincts so that visitors can walk from exhibition to exhibition.   The concept is to have exhibitions in Café’s, Pubs and other venues throughout each town as well as some home studios (if close to town). BC also hope to include various musical gigs on the weekends to add to the atmosphere and hopefully bring more people to the region to enjoy the art on display.

If you did not get to the Nannup Art Trail Event , there were eight venues that included sculpture walks in beautiful gardens, exhibitions in the soap factory, a cafe, a couple of gift shops, the community gallery and a couple of home studios. Themed exhibitions worked well.  You can click here and here for more information on the inaugural Art Trail Event
