Women in Local Government: informational image

The Australian Local Government Women’s Association has been rolling out a new program aimed at encouraging women from communities across the state to consider standing for Council.  This program is called Standing Up.

At the conclusion of the Extraordinary elections held in October 2020, the WAWA’s compiled a list of all Local Governments to evaluate the gender balance on Councils across WA. The results are in the photograph accompanying this news article.

If you are interested in exploring what standing for Council might mean you can access an Election Guide for Women Wishing to Stand for Local Government.

You can also attend a Standing Up event in Manjimup (free morning tea and information session or sign up directly for further information) on 5th August.
