State Government Elections 2021

In a couple of months it will be time for the WA State Government General Election. Following amendments to electoral legislation in 2011, State General Elections for both houses are now held every four years on the second Saturday in March. The next State general election in is scheduled to be held on 13 March 2021. You can view the timeline for the election here

Western Australia has two houses of State Parliament, the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council.  Western Australia is divided into 59 Legislative Assembly districts and six Legislative Council regions. During an election, one candidate is elected for each Legislative Assembly district and six candidates are elected for each Legislative Council region.

Voting is compulsory so you need to make sure you are enrolled and have your correct details on the electoral roll. You can learn how to update your details quickly and easily here.  The cut off to amend your details and/or enrol is 6pm on Thursday 11 February 2021.

The WA Electoral Commission employs casual staff to work at polling places across Western Australia on polling day. In addition, casual staff are employed at various early voting locations or on mobile polling teams before polling day.
