If you are out for your early morning power walk or your evening stroll may be you would like to take a detour and wander up Henry St to view the recent addition of the heritage plaque for the original site of our war memorial.

The original war memorial was unveiled by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Francis Newdegate, on 11 November 1921.

 The memorial was  moved into Memorial Park in mid January 1952 and was rededicated on Anzac Day when the Memorial Gates were also dedicated.

 The plinth the plaque is now resting on is originally from Nurse McAlinden’s home on Hampton St.

Over the coming weeks you will see in town the addition of many new heritage plaques on buildings and areas of historic interest.
