Published on Wednesday, 27 September 2023 at 4:02:59 PM

Each year, the Community Citizen of the Year Awards give local governments around the state the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution and celebrate community engagement of people within the community. The worthy winners of the Citizen of the Year Awards are announced and recognised at our annual Australia Day breakfast, held at the Bridgetown Leisure Centre pool. You can see more about the event and the winners for 2023 here.

Do you know any local heroes? Do you know of a person who has made a significant contribution to our community or demonstrated leadership resulting in the enhancement of our community life? Perhaps you know of a community group or a specific event that has added value to our local community? If so, why not nominate them for a Community Citizen of the Year Award!

These Awards are a way of recognising individuals and groups whose hard work providing dedicated service and inspiring actions benefits the Bridgetown-Greenbushes community.

There are four (4) Award categories, these being:~ Community Citizen of the Year
~ Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years or over)
~ Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years)
~ Active Citizenship Award (community group or event)

We encourage people from diverse backgrounds to consider nominating, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, young people, those living with disabilities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Further information including eligibility criteria can be found on the Australia Day Council of Western Australia's website https://www.citizenshipawards.com.au/.

Let’s Reflect, Respect and Celebrate community contribution across our state. We’re all part of the story.
