In consultation with the Bridgetown-Greenbushes Business and Tourism Association (BGBTA) and the Bridgetown Community Resource Centre (CRC) Council has decided to proceed with a new managementmodel for the Visitor Centre in Bridgetown. The service will continue to be delivered from the existing building but under the management of Community Resource Centre who will also work in collaboration with the BGBTA to manage the Brierley Jigsaw Gallery.
The BGBTA and CRC have created a joint vision which is:
To provide a revitalized hub for visitors and community, incorporating an interactive puzzle attraction and to expand the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes as a tourist destination.
The decision to change the management model is an outcome of a 2 year project exploring options regarding the future of the Visitor Centre. You can read an earlier news article on this project here
While there is still a lot of planning and preparation to do to progress this decision, we look forward to seeing the building and service delivery refreshed under the new management model.
One important aspect of the change will be the existing CRC services relocating to the Visitor Centre building, and the existing services of Landcare and the Blues at Bridgetown relocating to current CRC building.
Council has also decided to fund a business case to explore the viability of establishing a community delivered art gallery, exhibition and artist in residence space in the Bridgetown Railway Station. We will keep you updated on progress regarding these exciting developments.
