Our regional tourism association continues to develop opportunities to promote our region and our towns.  Still affectionately known as the “LTO” (local tourism organization) the association recently were presented - at short notice - with the opportunity to collaborate with the Southern Forests Food Council to develop an advertisement that will be run in The West, The Sunday Times as well as South West and Metropolitan (suburban) Newspapers.  The advertisement is linked with ‘foodie tourism’ and is focused an increasing awareness of the wonderful culinary options that exist in our region.  You can view the advertisement here.

Culinary tourism or food tourism or gastronomy tourism is the exploration of food as the purpose of tourism. It is now considered a vital component of the tourism experience. Dining out is common among tourists and "food is believed to rank alongside climate, accommodation, and scenery" in importance to tourists.  We have some great options locally including hotels and cafes utilising local produce as well as cideries, breweries and wineries on offer.
