Shire President John Bookless at the Greenbushes Youth Precinct Community ConsultationCouncillor John Bookless has resigned from Council, effective Tuesday 27th April 2022. John served as a councillor for four and a half years after being elected in October 2017, including as Shire President since October 2021.

During his time as a councillor and Shire President John represented the Shire on a number of committees and groups, including the Audit Committee, Local Emergency Management Committee, CEO Performance Review Committee, Bridgetown Greenbushes Business & Tourism Association, Warren Blackwood Alliance of Councils and the South West Zone of the Western Australian Local Government Association.

CEO Tim Clynch paid tribute to John Bookless saying “John made a great commitment to the Council and community during his period as a Shire Councillor and President. In particular the last 6 months as President have been exceptionally busy with John being a member of the State Government’s timber industry transition committee and dealing with the response and recovery processes for the Bridgetown/Hester Fire. John’s leadership and guidance will be missed”.

In tendering his resignation John wished the Council all the best for the future.

We wish John all the best in his future endeavours.
