Scrabble Tiles: In Lifting Others We Rise

It’s not too late to get that application in! We would like to remind the community that applications are open until Friday 25 February for the $160,000 available for local sporting, art and community groups.

To provide some inspiration and a better idea of where these funds go, we wanted to share some past initiatives.

Here are some of the successful community grants last year:

  • Promotion for the Blackwood River Art Trail
  • Upkeep of one our heritage listed-buildings, the Masonic Lodge built originally in 1910
  • Venue and stage hire, sound equipment and performer fees for the iconic Bridgetown Blues

Additionally, the Shire also assists with 3-year Service Agreements, such as:

  • Bridgetown Child Health Professionals
  • Bridgetown Golf Club
  • Catterick District Progress Association
  • Grow Greenbushes Inc. Community Garden
  • Rotary Club of Bridgetown for the Blackwood Marathon Relay

These typically cover rent fees, insurance and facility upkeep.

In addition to getting your applications in, remember to mark your calendars for the Blackwood River Art Trail. The event will kick off this year on 2 April – 17 April 2022.
