Ranger Seasonal - Winter

Livestock on road
We thought winter might be over by September, but with another bout of cold wet weather forecast we thought it timely to share some reminders from Donna, the Shire Ranger.

  • Thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening…make sure to prepare your home with safety equipment to prevent your pup from injuring themselves or escaping during a storm. Check with your local vet for additional measures to help calm your pup in frightening circumstances.
  • Regularly inspect your fences for unstable sections, broken branches and trees from storms to prevent straying stock
  • Kangaroos love green pastures, even if they are near the side of the road. Motorist should be aware of increased activity at this time of the year.
  • Wet ground leaves fences more susceptible to being pushed over by stock. As the saying goes, "the grass is greener on the other side” and our curious hooved friends tend to go on a scenic stroll.

If you ever come across straying stock or if you find or lose a dog, please contact Ranger Donna.
