Grant to Update Mapping and Flyer for Bridgetown Heritage Walk

We recently received a grant of $6,000 to help expand our Heritage Walk Trail and revise and reprint our Bridgetown Heritage Trail booklet.  We are looking forward to working with a local historical consultant and the Historical Society to revamp and rebrand this important trail.

The Town Heritage Walk is an easy and pleasant way to take in Bridgetown’s historical buildings. Just grab an information booklet from the Bridgetown Visitors Centre and follow the map while reading about the various locations. Along the way you can stop for a coffee or drink and do some shopping.

This beautifully located historic town-site was originally named Geegelup, until officially gazetted as Bridgetown in 1868. Many of our buildings are so well preserved that the National Trust of Australia designated Bridgetown an official Heritage Town. Some of the more significant historic landmarks, popular with visitors and locals, include the bridge across the Blackwood River, St Brigid’s Catholic Church and Convent, National Bank building, the Town Hall and St Paul’s Anglican Church.  The Heritage Trail is featured on the Total Trails website which you can check out here
