Foreshore Park Redevelopment Update

Published on Wednesday, 9 June 2021 at 9:36:58 AM

You will no doubt have seen the work progressing on the first of our Growth Strategy Projects - the Blackwood River Foreshore Park Redevelopment.  This project will see some significant improves across the 13 hectare area including upgrades to 2 of our signature walk trails being the River Walk and the Old Rectory Trail.

Specific elements include refurbishment of walk trails, development of interpretive signage, inclusion of universal access design principles and improved connectivity between key elements including the CBD, the Art Trail and the Blackwood River/ Foreshore Park.  The project was the outcome of extensive community consultation and includes environmental enhancement principles to protect the wetland areas and natural environs.

Our Growth Strategy aimed at driving town population growth, creating jobs, generating economic activity and growing our communities in alignment with the largest economic development project in the south west region being the Talison mine expansion.

The Foreshore Park Redevelopment is valued at $941,947 and is funded by the State Government (WA Recovery Plan Funding $411,000), the Federal Government (Department of Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management Drought Communities Program Funding $470,947) and the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes $60,000.  We are also funding the project management costs of $62,838.  You can read more about the WA Recovery Plan here
