Perfect weather and a great community crowd gathered on 20 May for ‘From the Embers’ a free workshop at the Bridgetown Golf Club. It was a stark reminder to hold the meeting near the location of the February bushfire. Being bushfire ready should be a topic year-round! This workshop was presented in partnership with Blackwood Biosecurity Inc. and RuralAid and welcomed some amazing and informative speakers on a plethora of topics.
The group learned everything from bushfire mitigation, mental health impacts of bushfires, impacts to the soil, feral animal trapping to invasive plant and animal species. Feedback from community members in attendance was overwhelmingly positive. We would like to extend a huge thank you to our presenters: Hugh Wheatley, Jenny Dewing, Jason Dearle, Adrian Williams, Roger Hitchcock and Mick O’Callaghan for sharing their extensive knowledge with us. And of course, our sincere thanks to everyone involved that help make these events happen.
