Accommodation Provision for Emergency Services Personnel

Published on Friday, 5 March 2021 at 10:36:05 AM

At the February meeting, Councillors approved a request from Talison to vary the conditions of approval for the transient workers camp on Old Mill Road in North Greenbushes to allow state and local emergency services organizations to use the camp for accommodating personnel in support of emergency containment and response activities in the Shire district and surrounds.

This will be done on a trial basis until no later than 22 January 2022 (in alignment with the current development approval which allows for the camp to operate until this date).

The camp was established in 2018 to support the need for the mine to have accommodation for transient workers assisting in various stages of the mine’s expansion. The request from the Mine was in alignment with requests from state government agencies and will ensure that there is local accommodation available for emergency services personnel in our Shire should this be required to assist in managing local and or regional emergencies.
