Strategic Community Plan 2017

The Strategic Community Plan expresses the community’s vision and priorities for the future and shows how the Council and community intend to make progress over a ten year+ period.  The Strategic Community Plan responds to three questions put to the community and the local government:

• Where are we now?
• Where do we want to be?
• How do we get there?

The Strategic Community Plan is a ten year plan. However, it is not fixed for ten years – it would be long out of date by then. Rather, it is a “rolling” plan which is reviewed every two years, alternating between a desktop review and a full review of which this current review is the latter.

The different community engagement exercises that fed into this review of the Strategic Community Plan were:
• Community Survey 2015 (211 respondents)
• Community Engagement Sessions November & December 2016 (109 participants)
• “Bridging Success Workshop” December 2015 (54 participants)
• Review of Sport and Recreation Strategic Plan – 2014/15 (27 local sport and recreation groups)
• Review of Age Friendly Community Plan – 2015/16 (192 participants including agencies)
• Review of Youth Plan – 2016/17 (157 respondents)

At the community engagement sessions held last November and December the Shire gave a commitment that once a final draft of the new Strategic Community Plan was completed it would be released for a final round of community engagement.  Members of our community are encouraged to view the draft Plan and provide feedback to the Shire by a closing date of 9am Thursday 1 June 2017.  Submissions can be made in writing or via email to the following addresses:

• Written and hand delivered to Shire administration office at 1 Steere Street, Bridgetown WA 6255
• Written and mailed to Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, PO Box 271, Bridgetown WA 6255
• Emailed to btnshire@bridgetown.wa.gov.au
